Lamplight Music MIDI page.

*********************

From the Lamplight Music website at GeoCities - a semi-popular site from around 1995-2005 known for creative, musically accurate and realistic-sounding original music midi files and arrangements for midi.
The music is mostly as it was originally written and turned into MIDI sequences.
This music is mostly of my own composition or arrangements of other musicians' music.
Some of it is prophetic music - music about things before they happen.
Art, if you can call it that, often predicts things to come.

All MIDI sequences, MIDI files, original music and arrangements on this page are Copyright © 1975-2011 by Jeff Fallen.
Copyright notices listed after the music are for the composers and lyric writers.
Some of the MIDI files with many events and controllers will not playback correctly with the QuickTime synthesizer on a Windows PC. Selecting General MIDI in QT preferences if your computer has a sound card will fix the problem. On a Mac, QT will playback the files correctly in OS X 10.6 - some versions of 10.5 and 10.4 have the same problems as Windows PC playback.

Church Music

Felix Mendelssohn - Introduction, Overture and Chorus I. - from the oratorio Elijah
Mendelssohn, known as the classical romantic, wrote much beautiful music. Elijah, a large work for vocal soloists, chorus, orchestral and organ, is based on the Bible verses about the Old Testament prophet.

Alleluia - choral, music by Jerry Sinclair, Copyright © Manna Music.

All Creatures of Our God and King - chamber orchestra
music from Geistliche Kirchengesang, 1623 - words by St. Francis of Assisi, 1182-1226 - translation by William H. Draper, 1855-1933

Come and Sing Praises - from a Maranatha! Music Praise Medley
Copyright © Maranatha! Music
This is part of a medley of songs and is incomplete.

Mine Eyes Have Seen The Glory - piano version - composed by William Steffe, c. 1852 - words by Julia Ward Howe
This tune is commonly known as the Battle Hymn of the Republic in the United States because the Union army chose it, or it was chosen for them, as an anthem to be sung in churches in support of the Union troops. The words actually talk about the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Mine Eyes Have Seen The Glory - organ version - composed by William Steffe, c. 1852 - words by Julia Ward Howe

My Jesus, I Love Thee - music by Adoniram J. Gordon
One of my favorite old hymns arranged in a modern style.

Seek Ye First - words from The Holy Bible and music by Karen Lafferty
Copyright © by Maranatha! Music
The song is based on a passage from Matthew 6:33 - But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.

Psalm 43 - for SATB chorus - words by King David of the nation of Israel.
A modern music setting for text from a Psalm of David.

Classical Music

Two-Part Invention (in the style of J.S. Bach)

Theme and Variations for acoustic guitar
A group of variations on a theme - the guitar is thought to be another Chinese invention from long ago.

Yangtze Journey
An imaginary steamer voyage up and down river in a past time - the river is no longer as it was - it disappeared in a reservoir along with the homes and history of farming communities along its banks.

ISLE for Concert Band
Music with a British sound, maybe mostly Irish and Scottish!

Homage for solo piano

Autumn Dance - pipes, harp, strings and brass
What starts as folk music makes its way around the world to an orchestral crescendo - a modern music blend of folk, classical and jazz.

Mabus - hit on MIDITRAX
This piece was originally composed thinking about the prophecy of Nostradamus about the 3rd anti-Christ. Interpreters say that he'll come wearing a blue turban and be a muslim who wages nuclear war on the world - sounds like the Mahdi. This music is minimalist, influenced by middle and far eastern musical scales.

Brass Octet - 3 Fantasies on 3 Hymns

Vision music for synth brass

Chanukah Music

Chanukah, Oy Chanukah - traditional

Christmas Music

Silver Bells music and words by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans - Copyright © by Paramount Music Corp.
A Christmas classic from the movie The Lemon Drop Kid with Bob Hope.

Christmas Variations - 3 Fantasies on 3 Christmas Carols
This is a rather dark arrangement of 3 famous Christmas carols - maybe it's because I worked on them during the month of October trying to get them ready for Christmas time. Since then, I haven't worked on Christmas music during Halloween month any more! 2 very famous Christmas pieces, The Christmas Song (Chestnuts . . .) and Sleigh Ride were both written during summer - probably to get them ready for the recording session and the publisher. Maybe the somber nature of the music and the brief, harsh mid-section is a reminder of the suffering of Jesus before and during His crucifixion on the cross, which happened during the Passover week when the lamb of God was sacrificed for our sins.

Jazz and Blues Music

Alfie - electric piano jazz, words by Hal David, music by Burt Bacharach

Battle Royal - big band jazz - music by Duke Ellington

Moods - expanded piano improvisations
These "moods" were all played in the space of less than an hour during a "warm up" session. Some of them turned out quite nicely.

Mood 1 - expanded piano improvisation, electric piano

Mood 2 - expanded piano improvisation, piano

Mood 3 - expanded piano improvisation, atmosphere

Mood 4 - expanded piano improvisation, electric piano

Mood 5 - expanded piano improvisation, warm pad

Mood 6 - expanded piano improvisation, flute

Mood 7 - expanded piano improvisation, atmosphere

Mood 8 - expanded piano improvisation, goblin
This one was discovered at my old web site by the arts council of the government of New Zealand (or was it Australia,) who featured it on their web site during the month of October 199?. Somewhere on one of my old CD storage discs the evidence can be found.

Mood 9 - expanded piano improvisation, piano

Mood 10 - expanded piano improvisation, piano

Moods - expanded piano improvisations

Now I Know Why (They Call It Falling) - music and lyrics by Michael Franks
Copyright © 1985 by Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Corp.
This was a popular MIDI file on the web - maybe the only midi version of this song.

Blues1 - accordion and electric bass

Stomp - a piano improvisation
This is a warm-up session, complete with stumbling and wrong notes - but a lot of it turned out pretty good! A time of improvisation can provide ideas for compositions.

Movie Music

Murder by Decree - film music by Carl Zittrer and Paul Zaza
Copyright © by EMBCOM Music Publishing, BMI
This is the closing theme from the film Murder by Decree, a 1970s movie about the latest Ripper scholar theories as to who Jack the Ripper actually was. The characters of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson were employed to solve the mystery. They concluded that an evil and insane physician and his assistant were murdering prostitutes in the Whitechapel district of London to cover up the fact that the Prince of Wales and heir to the throne, Eddy, had briefly fallen in love with a prostitute, married her and fathered a child.
This midi has graciously and proudly been a part of Gary Mason's Movie Midi and Poster Assemblage for many years.
