What about the legalization of drugs? Making drugs easier to get is generally a bad idea. All the harmful, chemically-manufactured, prescription and so-called recreational drugs in the world should be destroyed and those who have produced them and profited from them should be appropriately punished. All of their money should go to help those and the families of those that their drugs have harmed and destroyed. Maybe even all the hemp drug crops in the world should be harvested and burned - with those burning it at a safe distance. Natural plants and substances are here for a purpose. From the Poppy plant comes morphine - but also heroin. From the hemp plant comes clothing and other uses - but also marijuana. There is still a debate over whether marijuana or cannibis sativa is a useful, medical drug or harmful for short and long-term users.

All truly harmful drugs should be illegal. In order to get criminals out of the drug business, some have suggested that limited private industry get involved in the growing of quality, safe marijuana and the manufacture of safe non-prescription drugs - all under wise and limited government regulation. The buyer would pay a high tax rate on the drugs - a tax that discourages drug usage. Let the taxes be used to promote healthy lifestyles and medical care for drug abusers. To a great degree, that might get evil people out of the business who are just in it for profit and who don't care how many people are hurt - drug cartels who murder and kill each other in drug wars, for instance. One purpose would be to protect the users and general public from unscrupulous dealers and from bad, harmful drugs. It might work and it might not. We do have an example of a city where drugs and prostitution are legal and regulated - Amsterdam, Holland. There was a documentary made with footage of drug users and abusers on the streets and in the shops. Red light streets at night were filled with girls and women in the windows and lots of window shoppers walking by on the streets. It wasn't a pretty sight - it felt like a decadent society that had given up on keeping it clean and doing things the right way - God's way. Maybe it's better to make all but a few over the counter drugs and prescription drugs illegal - but who benefits from that? The drug companies and the government - and very profitably so.

The gift of eternal life is freely given to those who trust in Jesus as their savior. Those who believe, pray, read the Bible and allow themselves to grow in spirit and truth by trusting in Jesus and in the guidance of the Holy Spirit are brought into the family of God and will spend eternity with Him. You can read more about Jesus in the Gospel of John.
