Jesus Christ, Jesus the Messiah, Yeshua ha Mashiach did not come to start a new religion. Jesus claimed that He came to fulfill the law of Moses, not to do away with it. Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God to his chosen disciples - 12 Jewish apostles and many Hebrew and Gentile followers. Christianity grew away from Judaism after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Apostles and disciples of Yeshua Jesus tried to keep it on course, but after the deaths of the original 12 apostles, things really began to go wrong. Emperor Constantine of Rome saw a vision in the sky before a battle - a vision of a cross. His legions were victorious that day. Constantine converted to Christianity as it was and immediately began to convert Christianity as practiced by the Jews and Gentiles who learned The Way from Jesus and his disciples. Constantine, his mother Helena and their close associates immediately began to strip from the Christian faith anything of Jewish origin - event the Jewish heritage and identity of Yeshua Jesus himself.

The Pesach (Passover) celebration that is closely followed by the Feast of Unleavened Bread and the Feast of First Fruits was replaced by Easter. Easter is the English word for Astarte, the ancient Assyrian fertility goddess known as the Queen of Heaven. She is closely associated with the wife of Nimrod, Baal worship and all forms of fertility symbols and fertility rites. Symbols like the mother and child statues which dominate Catholic cathedrals, ancient wooden and stone idols of females with many breasts and rites such as painting eggs with various colored paints and the preparation and eating of buns which came to be called hot cross buns.

Another pagan holiday is the winter solstace, December 25th, when the pagans paid homage to the lord of the harvest - the sun god which they honored and sacrificed to. The actual birthday of Jesus was obscured when Constantine decided to substitute December 25th as the day to celebrate the birth of Christ. This paganism was brought into Roman Catholicism and made its way, unchallenged into the Protestant churches who broke away from the Roman church.

Why was this done? Constantine wanted to bring all his subjects under control of one religion. It would unify the empire and make it easier to control all the people. And, the pagans would much more readily become Christians if their pagan holidays were being observed on the same days, even if they had a different meaning. The Pantheon (house of many gods) was built in Rome so that every race and nation conquered by Rome could bring its idols into the building and go there to worship them. Ever since, the Roman church has been re-writing the Bible and adding to the original scripture and ignoring other parts of it. It must be said in favor of the Roman church that they have been the only group to consistently support Holy Scripture by standing against abortion and against divorce.

Jesus condemned the Jewish religious leaders for adding to the Holy words of Moses and the Prophets - Holy because they were given by God himself. Yeshua told the leaders that they were leading the people astray by encouring them to follow the man-made laws while ignoring the law of Moses and the teachings and warnings of the Prophets.
Protestant denominations include Lutherans, many different kinds of Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Churches of Christ, Churches of God, Nazarenes and many, many more - even a group that calls itself the Christian Church. All of them have added man and woman-made rules and regulations to the Holy Bible since their beginnings. Judaism has done the same thing through the Talmud - the interpretation of Holy Scripture by the rabbis. Modern Judaism has become liberalized or reformed and some sects no longer recognize the authority of Holy Scripture on some issues. There are female priests, pastors and rabbis - all in violation of the scriptural mandate that women are not to be in positions of spiritual authority and leadership over men. There is no mandate against women leading and advising other women in the ways of becoming and being righteous women. In continuation of the feminist scourge violating the modern churches and synagogues, many denominations have ignored the prohibitions against homosexual and lesbian behavior - even allowing the same to become nuns, priests and pastors - knowingly or unknowingly.

The gift of eternal life is freely given to those who trust in Jesus as their savior. Those who believe, pray, read the Bible and allow themselves to grow in spirit and truth by trusting in Jesus and in the guidance of the Holy Spirit are brought into the family of God and will spend eternity with Him. You can read more about Jesus in the Gospel of John.
